4 meses de missão!

Oi a todos!

Can you believe its already been four months? Wow! And as of today its already my third transfer in the field, so I am done training! I said goodbye to my wonderful companion Sister F. Santos today, she is going home to Curitiba after a great mission! Awww! Its bittersweet, but Im excited to meet my new companion and see what all happens with this transfer. I'll write about it next week :)

This week was kinda crazy but we had many little miracles and a GIANT miracle! One of our investigators, R, smokes cigarettes and we challenged him a while ago to keep the word of wisdom and quit smoking. This past tuesday we made a plano de conversão (conversion plan) with him and he and his family made some great goals to help him quit, and we also listen things that Heavenly Father could do to help him, including making him feel nausea when he went to smoke so he would want to quit. Well we stopped by on friday and guess what??? R said that when he had gone to smoke his one cigarette of the day, he didn't because he felt sudden nausea at the thought of smoking! He said yesterday that he's officially quit, and he's the kind of person that when he says that he means it! WHAT A MIRACLE! Another awesome part to this story is that he made the goal to read the Doctrine and Covenants and the Book of Mormon more often to help him keep his mind away from smoking, and hes gaining a greater testimony of the scriptures!! :D Seriously, my testimony was strengthened so much by this. I know that Heavenly Father works miracles in our lives and that He ALWAYS does His part when we do our part.

Anyway, life is good here in Teresina. Im learning lots and loving so so much being a missionary and sharing this wonderful message! Have an amazing week! <3

Muito amor,
Sister Knapp

Aventuras em Pedra Mole

Oi a todos!

Fun fact: the neighborhood we are in is called Pedra Mole which means soft rock. But the roads that are made of rocks are actually not soft at all soooo.... Gotta love missionary life :)
This week was good, A and G, our investigator and less active family, are making so much progress! No more coffee this week! Woohoo! A gave us all the coffee they had in the house for us to get rid of it :) I know that keeping the Word of Wisdom brings blessings!
Also our new investigator family, L and M, have a cat that looks just like Grumpy Cat (from the internet memes) and he lets me pet him, even though M says he never lets people pet him. :)
I was studying the February Ensign message from President Eyring and I loved it! I invite everyone to study it and remember how blessed we are to have a living prophet and apostles! I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints!

Aulas de inglês!

Olá a todos!

This week went by so fast here! Good news: I feel like I've hit a "level up" in my Portuguese! Everyone understands me and some people even think I'm Brazilian! WOOT! :)

One fun thing we started last week was teaching English lessons at the church. Sister Fuifui (from Australia) taught the adults and I taught the children, and it was so much fun! If anyone has any ideas of games or easy lessons or anything really for our English classes, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We've been praying hard to find new families to teach, and Heavenly Father has been placing them in our path! So we are working with FC to see if he will be ready to be baptized next week and teaching and finding lots of new families!

One scripture I wanted to share since Valentines day is coming up is John 3:16. Im so thankful that our Heavenly Father loved us and gave us this wonderful gospel and His beloved son Jesus Christ. I know that only through Christ can we have eternal life with our famlies.

Have a lovely week!

Aventuras e relámpagos

Oi a todos!

This week was really great, nothing super new though. Just working hard here in Cidade Jardim! We had to stop teaching A and N and M because they werent interested and progressing anymore. :( But FC wants to be baptized (next week!) and we found two new families! MIRACLES! We also had 5 investigators at church yesterday, so that was wonderful!
Fun fact: Teresina is the number 1 place in the world with lightening. And sometimes it rains like crazy so basically its pretty awesome. Yesterday the power went out at the end of a lesson, in the whole town. So we made dinner by candlelight and listenend to the rain.

Have a lovely week! The church is true!
