Donkeys get thirsty too

Oi a todos!

So this week had some interesting adventures and lots of work with less actives! Woot! On Thursday we were walking to our lessons, which were a bit far away. We're in the raining season now, and the roads were rather muddy. As we were walking, I was in front and as I stepped on this pile of dirt, it turned out not to be dirt, but very sticky MUD! I was wearing flipflops because of blisters (rain and a pair of my shoes apparantly arent friends) and I almost lost my flipflops in the mud! My companion laughed her head off as I miraculously escape the large pile of mud and ended up with suuuuupppeeeerrrr muddy feet. We were across the street from a little shop, so we went and asked for water to clean my feet. They gave us a bottle filled with tap water, and as I was cleaning my feet, I here my companion say "Sister! Watch out!" I look up and find my nose about 2 inches away from a donkey nose. What. There was this random wild donkey who had wandered over. Sister Lima da Silva then said "Sister, I think he's thirsty!" So thats the story of how I ended up giving water to a donkey from a water bottle. He wasnt very cooperative, donkeys dont seem to know how to drink from water bottles, but he ended up less thirsty and I ended up with clean feet and we then went on our way. Brazil adventures!
Also, my companion loves to sing, so this transfer Ive been learning tons of hymns and primary songs in Portuguese and we basically spend all day singing. :)
I hope youre all excited for general conference! I know I am!!! What a privilege it is to hear from a living prophet and apostles! We are so blessed! Have a wonderful conference weeked and happy Easter! I know my Savior lives!
Muito amor,
Sister Knapp

Cinco meses!

Oi a todos!

Five months have passed, it doesnt feel real! haha This week was good, we taught lots of Restoration lessons, which is my favorite, so that was awesome. I love being able to testify about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and how Heavenly Father loves us so much! I also had the opportunity to study Elder Holland's talk from General Conference in May 2013 called "Lord, I Believe". It helped me so much this week, and I challenge you all to read it and enjoy it as well!
Funny story: yesterday in church we had a visitor who came up to me and said in English "So, is Jason your uncle? I went to high school with him." In Teresina BRAZIL! You think I'd escape these sort of questions! :) haha This brother is living in my stake and found out that there was a Sister Knapp from Payson, the same city he's from. It was super funny :)
Anyway, the work here is progressing, we found TONS of new investigators this last week, so this week is going to be great!
Muito amor,
Sister Knapp

Mission and stake conference!

Oi a todos!
So many stories to tell! Life is good in Cidade Jardim, and I cant believe this transfer is halfway over! Wow! I'm loving every moment though. My companion, SIster Lima da Silva, is the best ever (and she's an AMAZING cook, seriously). And SIster Moraes and SIster Robins, the other sisters in our ward, are awesome and super funny. They are both really afraid of spiders though, so I've become the spider slayer. "Siiiiiiisterrrr Knaaaaaapppp! Aranhaaaa!" is rather common these days :) haha
We had mission conference this Friday, which was so great! It was fun to see missionaries from the entire mission and hear such wonderful messages! We also had stake conference tthis weekend, so it was a spiritual feast! Alma 37:38-47 is wonderful, with our liahonas being the Holy Ghost. I also loved the promise in ALma that faith, repentance, good works, and continual prayer bring miracles and revelations and lots of baptisms! Ive been working on having more faith and trust in the Lord and the miracles are just pouring down on us here!!
Neat story: one of our investigators, Gleyci, told us that she had done like we asked and prayed about the message and the Book of Mormon and that when she prayed she had felt really good and this feeling like a light and a hug. We read Galatians 5:22 about the fruits of the Spirit with her, and it was such a great lesson! Its so incredible to see the gospel change people's lives!
Okay, heres another funny story. So last Sunday we were helping a member fix lunch and we were preparing this meat and we asked what it was and she said "lagarto" but we thought she was kidding. This week, we somehow got on the topic of what we ate last week and Sister Moraes said that what we had thought was pork WAS ACTUALLY lagarto: lizard. So yeah. Lizard (it was a big lizard too) is actually quite delicious. Fun fact. :)
Anyway, I hope you all had a lovely pi day and week and that this week is even more wonderful!
Muito amor,
SIster KNapp

Ensinar até dormindo

Oi a todos!
Newest progress in the mission life: I now teach in my sleep too. I woke up the other night so excited that we had taught two more lessons only to realize that the numbers don't count because it was a dream. :)
This week was rather difficult because lots of people got sick, including Sister Knapp. But medicine and priesthood blessings beat ear infections every time, and this next week will be full of miracles!
Fun fact: I got to speak in church on Sunday about missionary work (and I loved the scripture in 1 Timothy 4:12) and I wrote my talk without using my dictionary to look up how to say a word! I am absoultely loving speaking Portuguese and you all might have to learn how to speak it too because I might not remember any other language when I get home. ;) haha
Have a wonderful week! What a blessing itis to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ!
Lots of love,
Sister Knapp

Sister Knapp agora é mãe!

Oi a todos!
So transfers came.... and I'm staying in Cidade Jardim! And guess what??? I'm a trainer now! WOW! So I'm officially a mission mom, and even though it was a shock (and I was really nervous because I just barely finished my own training) I am absolutely LOVING it! My companion, Sister Lima da Silva, is from São Paulo and she's pretty much an angel and I love her to death. She works so hard and we're going to have lots of miracles this transfer, I just know it! :) Sister Fuifui and Sister Pereira who lived in the house with us were both transfered, and the new sisters are awesome. Sister Moraes is from very south Brazil and Sister Robins is from Logan, Utah! I love them both so much already and seriously, this transfer is going to be great!
Funny story, today I was writing in my journal and I usually write in English but I wrote a good sized paragraph in Portuguese without realizing it! My companion said I'm being brainwashed :) haha
